YOKOHAMA (Feb. 8, 2010) - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced that its eco-drive support system, Eco-mode function and Navigation-linked speed control, employed in Nissan's compact vehicles has won the ANRE (Agency for Natural Resources and Energy) Director-General's award in the 20th annual Energy Conservation Prize. Yeah, that’s the NAVI system that’s will slow the vehicle down if you are approaching a curve too fast and has the Smooth Acceleration Assist that will use computer calculations to speed up your car at the most ‘fuel efficient rate’. I haven’t driven one yet so I will save my cautious anticipations of self driven vehicles until its more widely released here in the States, but it is cool that Nissan is already winning awards with the technology! Read the press release here. I have gone way out of my way to NOT take jabs at Toyota during their recent woes, you know how they are slimming down the population with their cars, and have tried to take the high road. Which is why I wanted to post an announcement from Nissan that addresses and responds to the recent and very serious concerns about vehicle safety, Nissan has issued an overview of the ways that Nissan has ensured that ‘unintended acceleration’ is not a cause for worry when driving a Nissan product. It address the three key areas of the issue other car makers are dealing with; the accelerator pedal, the start stop button and floor mats. Its worth taking a moment to click the picture, or the link here. Drive safe everyone. |
