The National Automotive Dealers Association Is stepping up efforts to stem the rising tide of catalytic convertor thefts plaguing the nation.
"NADA strongly supports legislation introduced by Rep. Jim Baird of Indiana, H.R. 6394, the Preventing Auto Recycling Theft (PART) Act, which would help thwart catalytic converter theft by increasing traceability and enforcement. The PART Act includes a $7 million grant program through which certain entities can voluntarily stamp VINs, or other identifiers, onto the catalytic converters of vehicles already on the road at no cost to vehicle owners. Dealers are specifically eligible to utilize this grant program. The bill also requires new vehicles to have unique, traceable identifying numbers stamped on catalytic converters at the time of assembly. Additionally, the bill increases record keeping requirements for purchasers and establishes a federal criminal penalty for the theft, sale, trafficking or known purchase of stolen catalytic converters of up to five years in jail...." Been a fan of Jason Harris for some time and love his passion for making the car biz better! Had the chance to ride and chat with him at NADA for an episode of his Strategy With Jason podcast! We shared thoughts on one of my fav topics social selling and it was so COOL! | Social Media is a Sales Tool, Training For What's Ahead Awesome marketing cat and all around groovy dude Nathan Greenberg joined wicked cool car gal Kathi Kruse and I for episode 25 of The First Pencil, and it was epic! We discussed the pros and cons of hiring employees that have their own brand and the reasons to encourage staff to build theirs, or discourage them from it… you will have to listen to find out our thoughts!
We wrapped with some fun stuff that will have you searching on YouTube for sure! Check out this episode on your fav source for podcasts HERE I don't golf and I don't fish, my only real hobby is the local car meet I started and look forward to on the 3rd Sunday of each month, RiversideCars&Coffee! Not sure if I have ever shared how the event got its start, a couple years ago my bud Ralph from Hey Riverside asked me about our meet and the toy drive we were organizing and posted this cool interview. This Sunday we are gathering toys again in partnership with hosts J & M Speed Center so I thought it would be great to share for our backstory! #FlashbackFriday The change from Google My Business to Google Business Profiles is only part of the evolution...11/5/2021 As the news from Google about renaming Google My Business to Google Business Profiles spreads one thing made me curious. From the Google announcement about the name change from Google My Business to Google Business Profiles: "In 2022, we’ll retire the Google My Business app so small businesses can take advantage of the upgraded merchant experience on Google Maps and Search..." I have noticed an increase in functionality of the search console tools for Google My Business listing over the past few weeks, see picture, but what does this mean for businesses that have more than one profile, for instance, an auto dealership with a main profile and also profiles for service, parts, etc? Being able to access all profiles from one place, the app, makes managing your profiles efficient and easy. If a business owner has to search each listing individually it may increase the time spent managing what is easily the most important marketing channel in today's digital world. Not to mention a digital media manager that has multiple profiles they are responsible for, having to search each to update, create a post or even just review their insights it can add quite some extra time to a day...
Posting eye-catching pics of your business can get your Google My Business profile the attention you are looking for when consumers are searching for your product or service locally. How would you like your company to have pics viewed nearly a million times in a quarter, or 411% more views than similar businesses? The best part is there is no charge, just your time to take some good photos and post them, call me if you need help!
Yesterday Google search guru Rand Fiskin posted that "from January to December 2020, 64.82% of searches on Google (desktop and mobile combined) ended in the search results without clicking to another web property..." and today Google posted a piece on how people use search that included the paragraph above. Now more than ever business owners need to have a well-managed Google My Business profile to ensure the maximum potential of their company being seen. Your companies website is no longer the only access potential customers rely on, they have a greater chance of seeing your GMB profile first and may get enough info to make their decision on contacting or doing business with you right there.
Read Rand's post HERE I post a lot about the pics I share to businesses Google My Business profiles, they get tons of views but what does that mean to the business? Well, in a 28 period, it can help make the phone ring over 1400 times, and more than 800 potential customers ask for directions that's what! Calls are self-explanatory but I like to look at requests for directions as well because someone clicking that button wants to do business with you! Could your dealership use 1400 calls and 800 requests for directions from the Google My Business/Google Maps profile for your dealership? Best part is that you don't have to hire a professional photographer or pay a fee to post pics on your company GMB page, there is literally nothing stopping you from taking advantage of this feature and getting your company noticed in local search!
As a 'vendor' in the automotive space, I do my best to add as much value for the dealership accounts I work with. I have shared many times that I post pic of my visit to the dealerships Google My Business profile to help increase their visibility and when I do have a business interaction I post a review for them as well. While onsite at one of my stores back in August I had my company car serviced and had a great experience that I shared in a review, in just a few months the review has been seen thousands of times not to mention the pictures have been viewed over 50 thousand times! As a Google Local Guide the pics I post get a lot of visibility and that is a value to my accounts, how do you add value for your clients?
I am in dealerships daily working with them on increasing efficiency and improving business in all departments, recently I have had a few experiences with service departments that have made me take a bit of a different view and I wanted to share my thoughts on what I believe the real competition for your store's service drive is...
