Prior to the March 10th debut of the all new NV2500, Nissan has launched a website geared at gathering input from potential commercial vehicle buyers. On the site guests have the opportunity to fill out a request form detailing their own needs from a commercial vehicle and viewing requests and comments left by others. Launching in November of this year the NV2500 will officially see daylight at the NTEA Convention in St. Louis that runs from March 10th to 12th, stay tuned here for more details as they emerge. Request your own NV2500 here and read about the upcoming NTEA show here. On February 10th of this year at the Geneva Convention… of cars called the Geneva Auto Show… like how I played the words like that? Geneva Convention, Geneva Auto Show?? No, whatev! Anyways, Nissan will launch their newest compact SUV, the Juke. I hate the name ‘crossover’ so I will continue to call it a compact SUV because that’s what it is, as it’s based on the Versa platform! Nissan has explosive success with the Qashqui and the Juke shares much of its big brothers styling cues. Rumors are that Nissan plans only for European sales however they are open to US sales iffin there is demand. Seems fair, we have the Cube and they don’t so for now at least I’m ok with them getting the Juke! More details here. I read this in Automotive News but it requires a subscription to see and since I am not paying for you alls subscriptions I wasn’t going to reference it until I found it some place free! Left Lane News saved the day and now I can bring the good word to my faithful fans! Although total sales fell for the 2009 year, Nissan sales fell LESS than everyone else’s and they have now leap frogged to the top selling car maker in Mexico! With 158,186 new vehicles sold I say, "Viva La Nissan", and read the rest here! But it IS a really cool 350Z built with LEGO’s! Speaking of LEGO’s, today marks the 52nd anniversary of Ole Kirk Christiansen’s original patent for my all time favorite pastime! Don’t ask me how I stumbled on to it just enjoy the info! The Lego toy empire got started in 1932 when Ole Kirk, a Danish carpenter, almost went bankrupt. During the depression, he had lost all of his carpentry business and tried earning an income from the wooden toys he built and sold from his workshop. Two years later, he named his company "Lego" from the Danish words "leg godt," which mean "play well." Take a minute and check out the site that has claimed many of my own dollars as I have attempted to acquire every kit known to man, you’ll find that smile you’ve been missin! Oh and for more pics of the cool LEGO 350Z check here. Although 2009 was NOT a banner year for the auto biz it was indeed a great year for autos in general. More than a few quite impressive vehicles were launched this year and one of my favorite online car magazines, WindingRoad.com, just released thier list of the top 12 that they drove during the year. Of course Godzilla makes the cut, duh, but also vehicles like the; Tesla Roadster, Audi R8, Porsche 911 and Lotuse Elise SC made for some pretty tough competition. What was the top pick you ask? I'll let them tell you! "The Nissan 370Z wins. If you must know, the car wins by an out-an-out landslide..." Couldnt have said it better myself guys, read the whole thing here. After a week in which So Cal received over triple the amount we normally get in the whole month of January it’s really nice to see some sun out today! Hopefully the sun will dry off the roads so we don’t have to see another new Nissan owner doing this with their new Nissan!! ;) Pic courtesy of Jalopnik.com, So Cal Flooding Gallery Not content with controlling the Chinese Touring Car Series and nearly every other class of racing it enters across Asia; Nissan has just announced that Godzilla will be racing the full season of the FIA GT Series for 2010. In a press release issued on Thursday January 14th, Nissan Motorsports International Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Minami-Ooi, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President: Yuichi Sanada; henceforth “NISMO”) announced that NISMO just signed the official partnership agreements for the FIA GT1 World Championship with Sumo Power GT (UK) and Swiss Racing Team (CH). Both teams will run two NISSAN GT-Rs respectively in the inaugural World Championship. NISMO will provide technical support to its new racing partners. Other details including driver line-up will be announced at the later date. The continued path to world domination begins in May with the first race of the season at Silverstone. Read the press release here and follow Godzilla here. Nissan has joined with Team Radio Shack to become the “Official Vehicles” for Lance Armstrong’s cycling team. You remember Lance don’t you; yeah he’s won the Tour de France or something before and now he making a go at it again! Team Radio Shack consists of 25 professional riders from around the world, including Armstrong – many of them considered among the strongest competitors in cycling today. The team will compete in an extensive schedule of professional cycling races worldwide in 2010, including the Tour de France and the Tour of California. It hasn’t been announced which Nissan Lance himself will be given to drive however I’m sure he will be more careful with it than Tiger was with his sponsors car! I am just hoping to get my yellow LiveStrong bracelet in the mail soon… Read the Nissan press release here and follow Lance on his journey here. I was going to say exploits but... ;) Over the next year or so Nissan will be introducing eight, yes that an 8, new models. Some we have know about and even discussed here like the NV2500 and the electric LEAF. A couple are Infinity models and now we finally have some confirmation about the next generation Quest mini van and a really cool compact SUV to be built off the Versa platform to be called the Juke. The new Quest wont be here until next January however the Juke will hit the ground in September so we should see it debut at the Chicago Auto Show next month, hopefully! USA Today has the whole article HERE and eGMCarTech has more on the Juke HERE. |
