Although the annual "Stator Bros. Rte 66 Rendezvous" is all about American muscle, well mostly muscle cars I am way excited about this weekends car show and all the activities that go along with this amazing event! For those that dont know, the Rte 66 Rendezvous is a huge car show and shine that takes over 35 square blocks of downtown San Bernardino, the end of the magical but long gone Route 66. Started way back in the early 90's by a local car club, the Over the Hill Gang, it has grown into one of the largest show/cruises on the west coast. Now sponsored by our friends at Stator Bros. Markets, last year the show drew over 500,000 visitors! During the show they have an open cruise that pretty much circles the downtown area, and yeah its open headers! You can bet I will be taking quite a few 'breaks' to sneak over for some great pics of some awesome rides, I'll keep ya posted! For more info including directions and a schedule of the activities click HERE. Now I gotta go find SOMETHING about Kia to post...... :)

Over the last couple of years I have worked at a few different dealerships, some fairly close and a couple that were quite a drive which reminds me that i hate Glendale! Anyway, driving past the San Bernardino Auto Center over the months has been some what of a heartbreaking drive. As dealer after dealer shut its doors, to the tune of 9 out of 11, it was more and more depressing. I say that with sincerity as I graduated high school right up the street and still consider good ole SB my home town. Now that I am working here in the once near abandoned center it feels good knowing that I am part of the effort to rebuild not only this auto mall but also in a small way, San Bernardino. Yes, it does sound a bit cheesy doesnt but damn it its true! Each day when I drive the center and see the weeds growing through the lots once full of cars its always good to see the ballons, new cars and lots of activity here at AllStar Kia. When I first hired on I coined the catch phrase we are "Rebuilding the Inland Empire one Kia at a time" and I'll be darned if we arent actually doin it! Word on the street is that the San Bernardino Redevelopment Agency is in negotiations with a dealer principle or maybe even two in an effort to bring more dealers back to the area. I'm sure in a few years this center will have returned to a bustling hub of activity and I will be proud to have been a part of rebuilding it but for now, heres a brief drive thru our neighborhood at the San Bernardino Auto Center... |
