No, I am not jumping on board the bash toyota train as a matter of fact... I am hitting the rails aboard the hate toyota DRIVERS train! So, I'm reading this months issue of Psychological Science online and I stumble across an article that totaly substantiates everything I have been ranting about prius drivers, only with actual basis! Here, I'll preview it with this jewel; "n line with the halo associated with green consumerism, results showed that people act more altruistically after mere exposure to green products than after mere exposure to conventional products. However, people act less altruistically and are more likely to cheat and steal after purchasing green products than after purchasing conventional products." In science terms they are basically saying that all those 'holier than thou' prius weenies pretty much suck! Really, read the whole article here, and yes i read Psychological Science.... shut up! ;) Tis the season for music events it would seem, that and the fact that there isnt much in the auto world worth reporting at the moment! The Winter Music Conference is set to kick off Tuesday down in Miami and this is one year I would surely love to have made it down there. There will be live performances from some of the greats in modern music like;TIESTO, BT and Groove Armada and also an electronic Q&A with Paul Van Dyk just as some of the highlights. As always the Intnl Dance Music Awards will be a huge part of the conference, they will take place on March 25th. All the down and dirty can be found here. There are now just under 30 days left until the hot So Cal desert winds give way to the cool and soothing melodies of the most awesome of music events ever, the Coachella Music Festival! This years line up includes some incredible stuff like; TIESTO (!), Coheed and Cambria, Muse, PIL, Echo and the Bunnymen, the Specials and Jay Z just to name a few. What does all this have to do with Nissan you ask? Well, I dunno just yet but I'm workin on that..... gimme a minute.... While you wait click over to the official site for details and tix info. If you were unable to attend this years Work Truck Expo, the NTEA in New Orleans it was probably because you were building a house or layin some pipe or something... Well, you missed a bunch of great stuff being shown AND you missed this years key note speaker William frekin Shatner! You suck... Anyhoo, aside from the official launch of the heavy duty NV2500 series of vans, seen here, there was also talk of Nissan bringing the NV200 van 'cross the pond to these shores AND rumors of an electric version being available soon! Yup, should have put down the hammer and made yer way to New Orleans this year mister... To commemorate the 40th anniversary of that rarest of rare Fairlady Z, you know the one I mean; the 1970 Fairlady Z432? You remember... it was the one produced with the same S20 inline 6 that was also shared with the hakosuka 2000GT-R, hellooo! Yeah, the Fairlady with the heart of Godzilla! Well you may not remember but Tomica sure as heck does, they had a Japanese jeweler named Ginza Tanaka make a special one off PLATINUM replica in perfect scale of it! Doors open, wheels turn and I want to see it in my stocking at Christmas this year thank you very much... I'll be extra good, I promise! Read more over at the Japanese Nostalgic Car Blog here. UPDATE: So today I check one of my fav sites, Jalopnik, for the days auto insider stuf and guess what? Yup, they ran a story about the Tanaka Platinum Fairlady! Whos on top of things!!!! the Nissan Guy! YEESSS ;) Have you ever thought to yourself, 'self, wouldn't it be cool to know what type's of places people use the navigation system in the cars to find the most?' No, huh, must be me... Anyhoo, in answer to my telepathic questioning TeleNav has researched that very thing and according to TeleNav's analysis of searches conducted by users in December 2009, Walmart was the overall number one U.S. business searched via the GPS device. Coffee retailer Starbucks followed as a close second. Third and fourth places went to Target and Best Buy, respectively, and Bank of America took fifth. “Every month our users are conducting millions of searches while using GPS navigation applications," said Sal Dhanani, co-founder and VP, products and marketing for TeleNav. "This data provides a very interesting look into the locations people across the country are searching for while on the road.”I am so hoping that 'local strip club' doesn't show up in their research anywhere! Read more here. A real find can be had on eBay if you are looking for a new Z. It seems a rather well of man up north tried to win the heart of a rather young lady with the purchase of a brand new 370Z Roadster however she was having nothing to do with the idea! Now her father has it listed on eBay for a steal. Smart girl, if the guy in question felt she was only worth the Z then perhaps she SHOULD hold out for better... maybe a guy who can buy her a GT-R! The details and even contact info if your looking for a deal are over at Jalopnik! This year the racing scene is going to be awesome, at least for Nissan fans! Fans of the manufactures racing against Nissan will just have to use that old 'its a rebuilding year for our team' excuse as Gozilla is set to return to and dominate, 3 different racing series'. Across Europe, Africa and South America the GT-R's will once again terrorize in the FIA GT1 Series and in Japan the Super GT class is set to be forced into painful submission with a full factory backed effort. Here in the States the SCCA World Challenge GT Championship will see the return of the Nissan nameplate for the first time since 2005. The series will make a swing thru Long Beach this year which is why the Nissan Guy is so excited about racing this year! Thankfully the guys at Brass Monkey Racing decided that denying me the pleasure of watching a full fledged Godzilla attack had gone on long enough and are entering two full race prepped GT-R's into the American racing landscape, hence the nekkid Godzilla shown here. Follow each series over here... FIA, here; Super GT here and World Challenge here. OR, just check back with me! ;) With the attention that auto recalls have received lately it understandable that Nissan's recall has made more than a few headlines. Although recalls are not uncommon, in fact they happen more frequently than most would ever believe, lately the focus is on making consumers aware when they do happen. The total number of US vehicle involved in the Nissan brake pedal recall is well under 200k however its worth making sure my readers are in the know. Click HERE for all the details or just email me your VIN to verify if your truck is affected. As a note the potentially affected units are the 2008 through 2010 model-year Nissan Titan, Armada and Quest vehicles, as well as the 2008 through 2010 Infiniti QX45. Of the 204,785 units being recalled for brake-pin issues, 178,916 are in the U.S. |
